Japheth Wood

Japheth Wood is a mathematician engaged in the mathematical education of students at many levels. He is a Continuing Associate Professor of Mathematics at Bard College, with teaching duties also at the Bard Prison Initiative.

Japheth co-directs the Bard Math Circle, and his involvement in the math circle movement additionally includes the New York Math Circle and the Math Association of America's SIGMAA on Circles.

During summers, Japheth serves as senior staff at the Hampshire College Summer Studies in Mathematics Program.

Previous academic appointments found Japheth at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, Vanderbilt University, the University of Louisville and Chatham University. Japheth earned his Mathematics Ph.D. and M.A., both at the University of California, Berkeley, his B.A. from Washington University in St. Louis. He is a proud alumn of the Hampshire College Summer Studies in Mathematics and the Budapest Semesters in Mathematics programs.
