At Bard College since 2006, Doctor Japheth Wood is the Director of Quantitative Literacy and Continuing Associate Professor of Mathematics. He has also taught with the Bard MAT Program and the Bard Prison Initiative, directs the Bard Math Circle, and is the lead coach for the Upstate New York Math Team.

Previous academic appointments found Japheth at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, Vanderbilt University, the University of Louisville and Chatham University. Japheth earned both his Mathematics PhD and MA degrees at the University of California, Berkeley, and his BA at Washington University in St. Louis. He is a proud alumnus of the Hampshire College Summer Studies in Mathematics and the Budapest Semesters in Mathematics programs.
