Exams: There will be a midterm, a final, and a project/presentation. Your grade will be determined by homework(40%), midterm(20%), final exam(20%), and presentations(20%). Tentative exam and project dates are listed below.

Assignments: Homework will be assigned daily and several proofs will be graded weekly. Tentative assignments are below. Problems in red are to be handed in.

Proofs Presentations:

1.       Presentations will take place Dec 5th, Dec 12th, Dec 14th.

2.     Presentations should be 15-20 minutes long, and consist of a brief introduction to the topic (perhaps including definitions and/or an example), statement of a theorem, sketch of the proof, and a conclusion which might include an application or an example.

3.     You may use transparencies, computer projector, or chalkboard.  Let me know in advance your AV needs.

4.     Feel free to produce a handout for the class.

5.     Your write-up should be a detailed proof of the Theorem including any relevant definitions and references.  Only one write-up per group is necessary.
